16 Jul Comprehensive legislative amendment by the EU Commission in favour of rear wing systems
On 4 July 2019, the EU Commission, with the assistance of representatives of the EU Member States, has adopted a comprehensive legislative amendment, which, among other things, permits the type approval of rear wing systems (such as the BETTERFLOW RearFLOW) and the attachment to trucks and truck trailers. The EU and the member states have thus made a clear statement for rear wing systems and their national and cross-border traffic. The new law is currently going through formal procedures and will come into force by the end of 2019 at the latest. From January 2020, EU vehicles with rear wing attachments can be registered. At the same time, the EU Commission together with the EU member states will initiate a regulation on the cross-border operation of rear wing systems. Operation is already permitted in some Member States. The law now creates a uniform formal framework for the EU.
As a certified vehicle manufacturer, BETTERFLOW is already authorized today to bring approved systems onto the market. In order to bridge the period up to January 2020 and be able to start initial tests, the first German vehicles are currently being placed on the market on the basis of individual exemptions.
